Not everyone wants to see five islands in ten days. More and more travellers, many of them over 55, ask for something different: fewer places, more comfort, no early starts and time to enjoy each day. The Philippines suits this way of travelling very well.
Fewer islands, longer stays
We usually plan two or three islands for a two-week trip, with at least four nights in each. That means unpacking once or twice, not every other day, and having time to come back to the beach you liked.
Comfort where it matters
- Private transfers at every airport and pier, with help with bags.
- Hotels chosen for ease: few stairs where possible, short walks to the beach, good beds and quiet rooms.
- Boats chosen for the conditions: calmer routes, shaded seats and a private boat if you prefer not to share.
- No very early flights unless there is no alternative, and rest after long travel days.
Islands that suit a slower pace
- Bohol: easy beaches in Panglao and Anda, the Chocolate Hills, the tarsiers and a gentle river cruise.
- Siquijor and Dumaguete: a small island with a quiet coastal road, and a pleasant university town by the sea.
- El Nido: for the famous lagoons, seen from a private boat at your own pace.
- Manila and Vigan: for history and culture, with a guide and a car.
Health and peace of mind
Every trip includes travel insurance with cancellation cover, and our team answers WhatsApp 24/7 during your trip. Tell us about any health needs, medication or mobility questions before you travel, and we will plan around them. Good hospitals are found in Manila, Cebu and the main regional cities. On small islands, care is more basic, which we take into account when choosing where you stay.
When to go
January to April has the most comfortable weather for most of the country: dry, sunny and not yet at the peak heat of May.
Our advice
Choose the pace first, then the places. Our Gentle Philippines journey is a good starting point, and we can slow it down further.
